Couples can help each other to lead a balanced prayer life. There is a simple acronym, ACTS, which can help couples to lead a well-rounded prayer life. A is for Adoration, simply praising God for who He is, without focusing on anything else. For example, God you are the creator, the divine physician, all knowing, all loving, our Savior, our Redeemer and the list can go on and on. C is for Confession. We confess to God asking forgiveness for the times when we have failed to live up to our Christian call. This part of the prayer can be specific or general (it is also a good time for couples to ask each other for forgiveness). T is for Thanksgiving, when we thank God for the many blessings He has bestowed upon us. It is good at this point to be specific. Finally, S is forĀ Seeking or Supplication. This last part of prayer is where we ask for our own intentions and intercede for others. How beautiful it would be for couples to take 10 minutes together at the end of each day and offer this type of prayer together. Not only would it be pleasing to God, but it can help them to grow deeper in their love for each other as they lift their hearts together to the one true God who IS LOVE!
