For many married couples, their greatest concerns and anxieties center around the welfare of their children. When they are young, parents pray that they may make correct decisions about their children's health and education. As they grow, parents may worry about how they spend their time, who their friends are and how they are influenced by the ways of the world. As they become young adults, parents' concerns may focus on their children's career choices, future spouses, living arrangements and more. There are always reasons for parents to be worried about their children, no matter the age. How can parents turn to God with these concerns for their children? The only way is through prayer, entrusting their children to God.
The Lord said to the prophet Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Trusting in this promise, parents can turn their children over to God. Whatever their concerns, parents can start their prayer by placing the name of their child in this passage and reciting it together. Then take a few moments of silent prayer for that child and close by together praying an Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory Be, which lift that child to be part of God's will on earth, in the power of the Blessed Mother's intercession and trusting that the child will be held forever in God's glorious hands.
