Holy Thursday marks the end of Lent and the beginning of the Sacred Paschal Triduum. On this night, we commemorate the institution of the Holy Eucharist and the Sacrament of Holy Orders, following Christ's command to "Do this in memory of me."
10:00 AM | St. Paul Cathedral
Join the Bishop and the priests of the Diocese of Pittsburgh as they gather to manifest the unity of the local Church. During this Mass, the Bishop blesses the holy oils that will be used in our parish throughout the coming year: the Oil of the Sick, the Oil of Catechumens, and the Sacred Chrism.
7:00 PM | St. Catherine of Sweden
This solemn liturgy focuses on the institution of the Eucharist and the washing of the feet, a profound sign of Christ’s humble service.
The Transfer of the Most Blessed Sacrament: Following the Mass, the Eucharist is carried in a solemn procession to the Altar of Repose.
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament: The church will remain open for quiet prayer and Adoration until 11:30 PM. This time of vigil mimics the Apostles staying awake with Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane.
8:00 PM – 11:00 PM | St. Richard
While the Mass of the Lord's Supper is celebrated at St. Catherine, the church at St. Richard will remain open during these hours for all who wish to spend time in quiet, personal prayer and reflection during this sacred night.
Departs from St. Catherine immediately following the 7:00 PM Mass
Continue the tradition of visiting Seven Churches on Holy Thursday night. We invite you to join our parish community as we travel by bus to several historic Pittsburgh churches to pray at their Altars of Repose.
Led by: Fr. Dan, who will provide prayers, spiritual reflections, and historical insights into each beautiful sanctuary.
